Spilled some gopher blood on my new Trident 13 Angler. Fished the San Mateo coast with my brother. He caught 6 small rockies - I caught one. Slow fishing, choppy water, windy, fast drift, overall a not-so-good last day of the season. I had the shark willies the whole time - that area really creeps me out.

Let's hope for some good November weather for crabs and abs.

sorry about the lack of Big fish. Maybe next season when the wx permits it will be better. I am gonna get to take my T13 out next week for its first ocean adventure. Did your guys season close today. We still have 15 days down here and 2 months if we drive an hour to the south. Which will happen trust me on that one.

So, Andrew, is your new ride an improvement from your M2?

I heard you guys were out down south of BH. We managed a few keeper lings but it was pretty much the same type of conditions as you described. Shark willies, fast drifts, wind.....we (or at least I), struggled with 'em all too.

Hey, at least we were all out there to mark the end of the 2009 N o' PP season. Good on ya for getting out there & fishing with your bro.

To be honest, the M2 paddles MUCH faster...I had to call my brother back a few times as he was getting ahead of me...

I was going to ask how you like your t13.  What's the reason people go with that over the fifteen?  Transportation factor?  Thanks for the report.  Andy

If anything, I guess the 15 would be slower...don't get me wrong, it's a smooth ride, but it felt slow to me. I love the storage space, though, and both yaks fit directly on the top of my Civic 48" Thule Bars with no problem, so I was happy about that. Oh, and the Rusty Hook in Pacifica sells the Promar Tr102 crab traps with escape rings - I picked one up on the way home.

I have both, 13 and 15.  The 15 is faster, and tacks better.  The 13 is lighter, and more maneuverable.  The 15 also is a little more stable in rough water, in my opinion.  I like the 13 in fresh water, but my 15 in salt.  My buddy Gabe paddles my 13 in the ocean all the time and does good, but his drift is slower, and paddles slower than mine.  Other than that, the same.

Congrats on the new ride Andrew! Crazy to hear that your M2 was a faster boat. I fish solo off a tandem myself and although I love the stability it is not the fastest boat around.

thats strange.. I've paddled both the M2 and own a T13.  T13 is no slouch.. M2 is slow.

Okay, let me amend my statement: I had my transducer suction-cupped to the hull of my boat the whole time. I'm thinking that is the reason the boat was lagging. I need to rig up a better system.
