I can almost smell that wort cooking now!  :beer2 :beer1

You got that right! I just brewed my first batch this last weekend, and after trying to boil 6 gallons on my kitchen stove I quickly understood the need for a more powerful burner.  :beer2

oohhhh ya!   I brew with my moms husband most of the time and the first couple times we tried it in the kitchen but were kicked out to the garage.   Even at that, and with the king cooker,  you can  get the occasional boil over so my mom made us spread out a big green tarp in the garage.   Have brewed every  batch Ive ever done on that tarp now..  and we call our setup the green tarp brewery.   :smt044

sooo.. what kind of beer did you decide to try first? :smt004

I've got an American Pale Ale in the fermenter. It's the American Pale Ale II kit from morebeer.com, OG 1.056, IBU 59. It's looking picture perfect right now. I made sure to take my time, I was super-uptight about sanitization, and the ferment temp has been holding steady between 66 degrees and 69 degrees.

The hardest part for me is going to be waiting for proper conditioning in the primary and then in the bottle. I've already started plotting my next brew once I get a propane burner. I'm thinking English Pale Ale, a Nut Brown Ale, or maybe an Irish Ale, but I can't quite decide yet. That brew day won't be until after Thanksgiving so I have time to decide still.

This is already addictive and I haven't even had my first brew in the fermenter 5 days!  :light

Sounds like you got a plan there Jay.  Got me to drinking just reading it.  Never tasted any home brew.  In a way I'm afraid to.  It seems like its too easy to screw up the mix.  Does it taste better than Corona with lime?

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.
