Launched my yak by the towers (right across the beach where they have the Paddlefest every year) after work and trolled for an hour = no joy. Got my yak strapped and ready to go by 6:45PM when a few Filipino bank fishermen came by armed with some nice g-loomis sticks and swimbaits to throw. I stuck around and made friends. These guys have been following the striper bite all along the shorelines of Oyster Point towards the San Mateo Bridge (they have their own calendar as well) They had mentioned that they have been catching keepers from 20 to 25 inches along the banks and no schoolies so far. So I stuck around and we did some fan casting for another two hours = no joy. A big leopard shark was caught by one of the baitfishermen (pics to follow). I'll be getting my surf rod out and start fishing for big sharks - just like the old days.

I went back there yesterday after work and I spoke to several guys and they each confirmed that a 40 incher  :smt118  was caught not too long ago. I  walked towards the point. Two 18 - 20 inch keepers were caught by soaking frozen anchovies. Lot's of smelt and sharks robbing bait.

Sounds like an opportunity to hit the tubes if weather permits and tides are good.

I'm thinking of doing a "blue kayak" expedition....pack light and paddle / troll all along the San Mateo and Burlingame shoreline....OK...maybe it's not that epic....but far enough for me to do...without the hassel of big swells and feeding white sharks  :smt003
