:smt006  My laptop was HIT hard yesterday while deleting old yahoo emails. The "New software downloaded" little window poped up, but I didn't download shit!. Shortly after that, I started to get "Security Tools "Warning "your system is infected with 31 viruses" click here to remove them for $49! BullShit! My AVG anti virus didn't catch this shit. After the laptop rebooted itself, hum imagine that, my AVG was completely disabled, and that fukin "Security Tools" would not go away! That was the Trojin or worm. Shortly after that the laptop stopped booting.
2hrs and $160 later my local PC guy cleaned the shit off, I'm up and working on only 1 of my 2 120gb (Set in a RAID conf) is up and allowing me to continue.
Monday I'll be giving him this laptop to remove the raid, and install a single 250gb WD drive. He'll clone what I have and hopefully I won't have to down load the 1.5patch.
Fuckin hackers that create this shit need to hunted down and SHOT! :smt013

I just recovered from the same scareware hit a couple of weeks ago. Luckily, I had time to back up my data and disconnect my external drives before the computer was completely disabled.

After 20 yrs of PCs, I'm trying a Mac and it does seem more impervious to bugs.

My buddy's daughter laptop had the same "Security tools" BS infect her laptop.  He was able to clean it off using Ultra Win Cleaner he purchased awhile ago.  Looks like I'll buying that as well here soon! I'm a little upset at AVG (My anti-virus and anti-spam) for not protecting my system better.
