Gearing up for Alaska..

Mooch the best rod for me was the 8.5 Alaska Series seeker.  Salmon fising involves lots of casting, this rod worked great.

I paired it with my 975cs penn Int, but soon changed over to the Abu 6500.  Though smaller, the Abu cast so much better.  17 pound test was plenty for the salmon up to nearly 30 lbs.

It was my "go-to" rod up there even used it for halibut up to 30 lbs.  

You might want to hold off buying everything until you get there and have a little time in those conditions and that area, make a more informed choice.
