Hello everyone,
I went to Bolinas Lagoon this last Saturday at high tide to get some waaaay over due fishing in (sorry non yak). I made it out at around 2:30pm and the tide was peaked, I had my favorite shark bait and I casted my lines out. I haven't been fishing  for a while (at least six months) so I was excited. The water was clear, the fog was still hanging around so that helped and my over worked imagination told me that there was a ton of Leopard sharks piled up because I wasn't there to ease the pressure. Two hours go by of nothing and I have re-casted several times, worn a noticeable path in the now exposed shoreline and I now finally sit down by my rod. The line started to peel off at a nice pace and I smiled and said "gottcha" as I picked up the rod and waited a few seconds and then started to tighten up my drag. It definitely had an attitude because it changed directions and switched gears. The line really started to peel off so I in my haste put my thumb down firmly on the spool and raised my rod. This Hasty action stood me up from my sitting position and started to burn my thumb. My mind said "ease up" but my excited alter fishing ego said "it's a whopper" and guess who won out? Well I have a burn on my thumb and a broken line to show for it. One has to laugh at ones self in times like this but I didn't, my dang thumb was a stingin' and I needed to get back to the homestead. Oh well, at least I don't need my thumb to type this, until next time....Don

Welcome to the board and thanks for the report! I love fishing Bolinas.

The big one that got away is always great motivation to get back out there!

Sorry no pics, I called my wife on the way home and told her and she didn't believe me untill I was washing my hands and I showed her the lines going verticle on my thumb (they were easier to see with water, go figure). I will be having a rematch here very soon all I need to do is learn how to post pics....Don
