Hit Russo's Marina at about 830am.  Looking for stripers and LMB.  Did'nt find the stripers, but caught 4 LMB.  Two about 17", one about 13 and one almost smaller than the crankbait.  Talked to a powerboater and they fished the main river and caught about 30 schoolies.  Off the water by 2pm.  It was was warm-got up to 90F. Hello Indian summer!

WTG on the LMB Jody. I wonder if it is still a little early for stripers in the delta.

The striper seem to srill be in the river channels according to the boaters.  I saw a couple of stripers cruising around the dock at Russo's by the boat launch, but they weren't biting. I agree, it is a bit early- but a day on the water with no fish is better that a day not on the water!

My Favorite spot, Did you stay on the Piper Slough or you went outside Franks Tract? I have a good spot in there but not recommend it on weekend... Thanks for the report! Do they still charge 10 bucks to launch?

Is that a senko?

Tx 4 the report. Frank's Tract really starts to cook in October--it is , as you surmised, a bit early. But as you said, when we get time it's best to get out there--you cannot win the lottery if you don't keep buying tickets. Do that same trip in 30 days and you'll be posting pictures of nice stripers pulled in.

I'll try and answer all the q's if I can remember them.  I stayed in the main slough and made a left out of Russo's, paddling upwind. It was petty windy in the AM , but calmed down to a whisper and got really hot.  Went up to Bethel harbor docks and fished around the boat houses and pilings for the LMBs.  Saw some real hogs!  Trolled a rattletrap in the deeper channels for the stripers.  Yes, a green flake Senko was the bait.  I will definitely be going out of there again.  I would like to try fly fishing for the stripers when they are in.  That would be a blast!

I forgot- yep, still 10 bucks for a yak to launch.  Ramp is good though. not too steep or slimy.  They let me park up on top(cuz it was a weekday, I think) so it was a short roll to the ramp.  Nice people there.  No live bait at the bait shop on the dock.  Only nightcrawlers.
