In addition to my Prowler 15, I am now the proud owner of a new Tarpon 160i :smt003. I needed a second big yak as my nephews (high school and college) come up to visit and fish with me. My thoughts after a 2 hour paddle last night:

*Speed: yes, faster (not by much) than my Prowler 15.
*Not as stable as my Prowler 15..the Tarpon is more tippy and has less secondary too...yes, I did a wet test
*Front hatch semi-sucks on the Tarpon...seems they could have made it slightly smaller for a better seal...probably fixable though..Prowler hatch on a complete roll over NEVER lets water in.
*Seat seems comfortable, but not sure how it will hold up with all the plastic parts...probably end up using my *Surf & Summit deluxe seat..way comfy.
*Fit and finish...flawless. The Tarpon material is top notch.
*Quiet? Absolutely silent..zero hull slap..even under full out speed paddles...nice
*Balance at handles: perfect..so it the Prowler
*Heavy? Yes. I know it's a good 10-15 more than the P15.
*Deck layout? darn nice, dryer ride than the P15 (both w/o scuppers in), good deck lines too
*Glide: excellent, better than the P15
*Maneuverability/turning: contrary to what I have read, this yak turns better than my P15. I'm 6-2/215 and use a Cannon 240 full blade so that may be a big part..but I had not problems getting it to turn.

*Conclusion: P15 is more stable, but not a deal killer. Tarpon has excellent speed, comfort, and good layout. *Minuses for the seat and front hatch (rear was tight) being too loose and not able to get a good seal.
*Overall: love this kayak! If I had to choose between them..difficult, but when those 10-12' ocean swells are running, I'd rather have the excellent stability of my P15.

Congrat on the addition to your fleet  :smt003  When you finish pimping it, please post a picture.  Thanks...
