Thank God my secret spot's not on that top 10 list!   :smt002   I've yak-fished Crescent City area a few times and there is lots of potential there, but, as is so often the case for me, not many yak-fish-partners up there either...   :smt012   I'm heading out tomorrow or Saturday or both to try for the ling that would win the big fish pool--how do you get in that anyway?!  I'll try to post a report.  I'm wanting to bring a little 10-15#er home for meat, and I want to weigh, photo, and release the giant one.  We'll see what happens.  The biggest I've released to date is around 20#.  I saw some guys catch what must have been a 20#+ cabezon from the rocks about 10 years ago--I've caught lots in the 10# range and that thing looked like a movie prop comparatively!

Thanks, Mooch.  After reading the liability release I'm too scared to go out at all!   :smt003  But really, what about this requirement:  "Photographic evidence of fish, size (length/girth) and weight must be provided or witnessed/verified by another angler participating in the pool."  Does this mean that I can only provide photographic evidence if another person in the pool is there too?

I'm not sure about that part - maybe Bill can chime in and clear things out.

Its an either/or type deal.  Someone sees it first hand and can verify everything or you photo the fish on a scale (which it sounds like you might be doing already anyway)  Good Luck, I think the ling category is far from safe with you guys still on the prowl up north.

I vote that the honor system would work fine, given that there are few NorCal anglers in his area.  If he does a post in the hookup section and no one can make the drive, then his catch should still apply.  Just my $.02.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Stuart

BTW, I think his nickname is "lingking"

Travis,
I hear that Oct is a great month to free dive off Ano........

.......if you want to meet whitey!!!!!

I've had similar thoughts, but the risk is just not worth it.  Watch one of those shark shows on PBS and you'll change your mind quick.

BTW, the dirt road/trail leads down to a fairly protected launch (unless there is a south swell).  It was mighty tempting.  Rockies to the right, butts anywhere to the south.

Yes it is either a witness or a picture as long as the picture includes the scale. with the fish weight on it. I was hoping on keeping it loose but since the pot is over $100 now I think people are getting serious...

I just spent 15 frustrating minutes entering 3 different credit cards on that POS and it won't take any...  It says I entered incomplete or invalid info.  Whatever...   :smt013  :smt013

Thanks for the clarification. I'll get in the pot.

Stuart: Nice try on that hookups page idea!!  I don't anticipate putting anything on there, but you are welcome to email or otherwise contact me and we can arrange to meet up here--getting good conditions is the hard part... The last few times out I've gone solo and it has been a great experience each time. My wife doesn't like it, but it's been a spiritual jackpot for me~

***I ended up putting this on the wrong board somehow a few days ago...  I sent my $5 in after Bill was kind enough to PM me and offer that I can send it in.  Thanks, Bill, it's in the mail.

Fish report today=blown out.  Going again tomorrow morning early.  15-20' swell to come in by tomorrow evening up here.

Is there or will there be a spear fishing category?
