You should have seen all the kayaks on that lake. Must have been 50 to 75 of them.
Pretty exciting fishing.
Alas - no camera - yet. Don't want to take my Canon 5D out there, I'm still a bit wobbly.

Threw out a Little Cleo in a Rainbow pattern for a few fish, then, a Firetiger pattern for
a few more.

Two of us fishing - 6 hours one day - 2 hours the next.

54 Rainbows - most were stocker sized - about 10-14 inches.  10 were over 4 pounds.
All but 5 made it back to the water safely.  I was picked up by an Osprey as soon as
I let it go.  Made the mistake of staying on the surface a bit too long.

4 of the 5 pounders went back to the resort for the girlz at the front desk.  They took
care of us pretty good while we were there.

My buddy was dragging a broken back rapala in rainbow pattern, and a smaller one in
firetiger.  He switched to a nightcrawler on the 2 hour trip and picked up two of the
bigger fish of the weekend.

There had to be 20 Osprey working the lake at one time.  Most were young and were
not very successful in catching fish.  We watched one come down and get a nice 12-14
inch fish - and then - the guy in the boat next to us was yelling.  It seems it came
down and took his fish - lure and all.

One Osprey made the mistake of getting a fish taloned just a bit too big.  Took him a
minute to free himself, made a heck of a ruckus on the water, but, got back in the
air just a bit shaken up.  Drama.  The stuff National Geographic is made of.

Okay .. sorry for the long post, but, I'm still a bit jazzed by the nice lake and the fishing.

Thanks for the cool report. Yeah, sometimes the old nightcrawler setup beats the
lure in some lakes.

Great report except no photos? Just kidding, wait and get a waterproof camera don't risk a good non-waterproof one.

Osprey are amazing. I was Shad fishing the Russian once and behind me I hear this huge splash. I look around and there is an Osprey struggling on the water--looked almost drowning--after a minute it pulls up what looked like a 2-3# Sucker gripped sideways. It really struggled to gain altitude and then deftly switched it to head first and just barely cleared the trees on the bank and gained safe altitude and flew away. It was a real site--I had stopped fishing just to watch it all--never thought to stop watching to take a picture. I was in awe.

Speaking on Ospreys' I'm standing on the dock @ blue lakes and I see this trout jump out of the water...I'm just getting ready to put in for an afternoon of fishing and another local is hanging out I said "look see that fish, go get it" I wish I would've not pointed it out because it was an 18" eagle lake hold over guy dives out and scoops it up...bright orange meat...ummmmmmm it had talon marks all over it, and one had gone through the gills! it was dying and needed to be harvested...crawdads would've been feasting...that bird was kicking it's self in the hole for dropping such a nice fish... :smt009 don't ask didn't have one @ the time... :smt003
