I just saw that my local wal-mart has been installing their christmas section, and had already stocked the glittery tinsel that I've been using to make rockfish jigs - including 'root beer' tinsel.  Swing through and check if you'd like some tinsel - this stuff is much better than the basket stuffing tinsel that's available year-round.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

Thanks for the heads up, Josh
Saltwater is the cure for everything that ails us,
sweat, tear or the sea.

I bought some mylar Easter grass and just rubber-banded it to my jig...it seemed to work great.  I've also thought about running a mylar balloon through a paper shredder...

My first tinsel was mylar tinsel, and it worked well.  But the 'ultimate icicles' at walmart has holographic glittery stuff in it that gives a nice scale-like shine.  It's also dirt cheap, like $1 for enough to make 10 jigs.

cool  :smt023 I'll give it a try.  I'm sold on using tinsel...but I'm always looking for better ways
