Shelter Cove, Gold Beach

Hey, I'm going to be fishing at Shelter Cove Thurs and Friday, the 3rd and 4th, going to a family wedding on the weekend, then fishing Southern Oregon the next week--Maybe looking for lings, maybe trying to score my first kayak salmon in the lower Rogue at Gold Beach, maybe kicking back with a crab hoop.  Anyone going out in the area, let me know. 

Sorry for the bummer news, Shasta, but rockfishing/all fishing from a boat closed at Shelter Cove on 8/15.  You can fish from shore, spearfish, and abalone season is still open.

Yeah, bummer, maybe I should go to Trinidad instead.  But Shelter Cove is a great place for abs.  And it looks like I could try for halibut from the yak.  I have never targetted halibut, but there is a more or less sandy area south of the harbor that might have a few. 

Trinidad does hold much more promise - you can even try for a salmon!
