Plastic bolts on Trident rudder mount points?

OK ships the Trident 15 with plastic bots for the rudder and foot pedal mount points. My KSF Feathercraft kit came with steel bolts for the Sea Track pedals (the mounting hole spacing is different anyway so I cannot use OK's mount points) but not for the rudder bracket. I am having doubts about the ability of those plastic bolts to handle the shear forces the rudder might encounter on loading and unloading the boat as well as hitting the bottom (accidents happen). I am wondering if those of you who installed your own rudder used them or replaced them with stainless steel bolts. They are short so I might have to "dremel" some steel bolts from West Marine to fit. Anybody?

ya the plastic screws fail, replace them with stainless to start.  I put on two rudders, and only had enough SS for one.  The plastic failed in two trips.

The plastic screws are just to keep the threads clean, if you the OK rudder kit it comes with ss bolts.  They are metric, I believe 5mm.

Ditto that Sean. You cant possibly think those plastic screws are anything but a filler plug. Plus they are like a half inch long. The brass inserts are very nice though.

I got the KSF rudder kit including the bracket for the T-15. Unfortunately, KSF shorted me a few items--left out when they swapped the standard sliding foot pedals for the Smart Track Sea Dog ones. They forgot the plastic cable conduit for in the hull and now it seems the bolts for the rudder bracket. There seems to be a bolt on rudder rest on the top that the KSF kit didn't include either. I might have to fabricate something from aluminum bar stock.

There is probably more missing but I am finding it as I go. I have a call into them and waiting for a return call--trying to get a bill of materials so I can check my order contents. It has not been a good experience so far, but to their credit they are trying to fix it.
