You've got a really nice patch of bamboo there!

I'd be happy to make you one, but to be honest you could do as well or better than I could.  Look online for rod wrapping, there's a real basic technique for pulling the end under the wraps, so there's no loose end.

You could get as fancy as you want to.

I highly recommend the Epiphanes yacht varnish!  I can bring you a jarful...  it's not cheap, and you only need a tiny bit for a gaff.

I found some cool wrapping stuff by searching "paracord handle". Mainly for knives etc., but applicable to a gaff too I think. I'm definitely going to give it a try.

Trade ya some bamboo for the varnish? I'll cut a length for you and throw it in the car for the next time we hook up OTW.

Now I need to order the gaff tip from Fisherman's warehouse...

Cool trade, thanks!

BTW, bamboo makes a great poke pole, too!  Just make it short enough to fit in your vehicle.

FW should have the hooks in stock, about $5 as I recall.

$5 exactly, but they want $8.50 to send it UPS! (only option) A bit too far for me to drive though. Any ideas of other places to get them?

I was looking at the 1/0 size, standard hook. Is that what you guys used too?
