Went to the ISE show today.  I got a $5 off coupon for Hi's.  Seems like a good store but I live in San Jose and it is unlikely that I will make it to the city.  It expires in a month.

I will mail it to the first person who replies to this post.

Hi Kevin,

I don't want the coupon.  Give it to the next guy.  But, you should check out the store.  Kind of nice.  Small and narrow.  But, goes back a long way.  Lots of Salt water stuff and custom rods.  Pricey but a nice day trip.
You will find things there that the San Jose area stores will not have.

Hey Kevin,

I'd like that coupon as I live in SF and Hi's is my goto store at the last minute. Don't know if they call it Hi's cause of the feeling you get or the prices.

I'll pm you my address.

Thanks.

Elric, I'll drop it in the mail Monday.

I'll make it to that shop one of these days - just not in the next 30 days...

Take care - Kevin

Hey Kevin,

Did you pick up the reel you wanted?  What did you get?

Picked up the ProGear after looking at the Avet MX6.  I really liked the idea of a small lever drag, but Stu and Art's comments on the drag range brought me back to the ProGear.  My dad also commented that the drag lever seemed too sticky.

Had a hard time deciding on the 500 and the 550, but decided on a little more line capacity (in case I ever go on a boat for albacore).

Seems like a good choice that didn't break the bank.

excellent  choice, just watch out for the bearings if the reel goes for a swim.    i have a pair of 500's and one 550.  i'm actually looking for another 550 to round out the arsenal.  the avet's are nice, but not for single speed.  alan
