Looking for a place to camp and fish with the family. Would really appreciate some ideas. Ideal spot has the following attributes:
  • about 2 hours from SF
  • dogs allowed
  • the wilder the better (but not a crazy hike in)
  • kayak accessible (naturally)
  • lake or ocean OK!

One more family campout for the season, and hopefully slightly off the beaten path, although that it getting increasingly harder and harder to find nearby.

What I REALLY would like to do is get another boat for the wife (T11) and hit a river for some truly wild camping ala SBD! (Fat chance talking the wife into that though...)

Hetch Hetchy camp site in Lake Del Valle / Livemore  :smt023 :smt023 :smt023

Less than a mile paddle or optional less than a mile hike in...unfortunately, this is a "group camp site"...perhaps you can get more family members or friends to share the cost.

*water front site with two pit bathrooms and running water available.

check out the pics...

keep an eye out for gigantic tarantulas
