I need a decent paddle. I have a relatively steep angle stroke, and paddle a T13, so something in the 220-230 range. Definitely light, but I don't want to break the bank.

Any suggestions of good cost/performance paddles, a sale going on, or someone who may have a used one they want to sell would be greatly appreciated!

The REI outlet has good deals on a couple of Bending Branches paddles. I recently picked up the Spirit Day (http://www.rei.com/outlet/product/794363) there, and I'm very pleased. It's slightly lighter than a comparable Werner and much more affordable, especially with the sale price. The biggest difference between the BB and a Werner, as far as I can tell, is that the BB only has three potential feather settings, whereas the Werner has a much wider adjustment range.

Good call on the REI Outlet store.

There are a ton of paddles there for varying prices. Does anyone have an opinion on the Bending Branches Slice paddle? It has been reduced to $89, which if it's a decent paddle, seems like a real deal.

A good paddle seems to really make a difference - what do you guys feel is a reasonable budget?

Nice thing about purchasing from REI is their return policy.  If you end up not liking the paddle, you can return it and try another one.

I had the Slice Angler same paddle without the rule loved it wish I wouldn't have sold it I have the Breeze now and I'm happy with it I just sorta wish I had the Slice for the River as it's a tougher paddle and almost as light.
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

And it's a lot cheaper. Thanks for the input, Mickfish - good to know. I'm leaning towards this paddle as it is cheap, through it I can figure out what my future "ultimate" paddle should be, and even then it would make a fine back-up.

If your in a prowler you might want to consider a 240cm paddle it will make it a little less steep.  I have a T15 and I thought I wanted a 230, I'm almost 6' tall, the clerk suggested I try both,  I still have the 240.
The more the merrier.

I and my dog need a fishing trip rery soon.
