eventful but non eventful for halis day at port san luis today - got out at 8 - really foggy for a while worked the inside and along the jetty out to the point and hit on this using a white swimbait - went out to the point and it was pretty unsettled so i worked back along the jetty and then snagged this crab by accident.  thought i snagged some kelp.

had an "oops i crapped my pants" moment later when using my sabiki - i wasn't paying attention and left my swimbait hanging in the water about a foot or two - a seal came up with his head next to the boat with it in his mouth and then spit it and off he went.  overall pretty slow day - all were released.

Hi Tote,

I think this crab goes by both names.  I prefer the name Spider since it's more resembling a spider than a sheep  :smt003  Want to see one in action on the ocean floor?

Cool video sailfish -

smallfish - lets try to hookup when you get back - i gotta get on something besides rf and crabs here pretty quickly :D

HDRich - I debated on keeping it - glad I didn't

I'm still trying to figure out how I hooked that crab where I did - my swimbait was cut in half so I'm assuming the crab grabbed the swimbait allowing the hook to get between the top of its right pincher leg and the top of the shell - in any case it was kinda tough getting it unhooked w/o getting pinched
