Launched just east of the Fort Point pier and headed out under the Gate to catch some bait. Was able to get 5-6 of those shiner perches and loaded them in my tube. No sign of smelt or deans, so I gave these little buggers a shot. Drifted for about 4.5 hours from the Gate to where the sportfishers hang outside Chrissy Field. No amor.  My baits were a little big, just not my day again. Seems like most fish have move deeper, or outside the bay.

No pics? I bet that's cool just being under the GG like that.

Thanks for the report, I.O.I.

Nice try.  Afternoon tides/weather has been good for that spot the last couple of days.

Fishing under the Gate is something else. I saw some bridge workers eating lunch and thowing some pulls at the rocks in the fenced off area, under the bridge, by the fort. I'm sure before homeland security put in those fences in it would have been a great place to fish from shore. The only thing about fishing under the gate is how fascinated the tourists are ... taking pictures, yelling, and the classy ones dropping trash. Every time I would get snagged in the kelp the bridge flock would jeer - it kinda gave me stage fright and definitely made it hard to perform. Sorry about no pics, I don't have a waterproof digital camera. But when I get something on ice, I'll post the shots. Cheers, Devin.
