Not sure where this should go so I'll post it here.

I may be around Tustin area in early October. I'd like to yak fish and or dive and possibly take a buddy out as well. I'll be bringing all my gear and yaks. Newport beach is within 15 min driving distance and seems to be the closest and obvious place to explore but I have no idea where to go or what to do.

Please advise. Thanks in advance!

James

Newport Harbor can be good - depending on what you are fishing for.  Dana Point is a good place for bass, halibut, and lately yellowtail, yellowfin/bluefin tuna.  The water is warm now and fishing is really good for the exotics.  San Onofre is good too, but only go if there is no (or little) surf.  They are all less than an hour from you.

Thx for your reply. I'll probably try out to about 3 miles from one of the harbors and see what actions are out there.

Go to fliflicker.com and read their reports. Fly fishing guys mainly, but really good people that will offer help. They kayak a lot as well.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
