Not sure how many peeps know that the MLPA includes the SF bay system, it will be a year or so but complete no-take closures inside the bay are inevitable.

That's a sledgehammer approach to stopping the party boat carnage and one we'd rather no have, but  at least that's a tiny sliver of a silver lining--that means more Stripers, Halibut, and Salmon survive for us to catch on the Coast. What surprises me, although the reasons are clear if you think about it, is that the kayak Anglers in NYC and Chespeake Bay, with similar populations as we have, retain viable fisheries. The difference is of course that they don't have huge agribusiness and cities draining ever more scarce water. It just a shame it has come to this is all I am saying.

The movie "Ground Hog Day", continues to invade the forfront of my mind as Uncle Duane continues to take me to wed. afternoon halibut school. Focusing on old information, with complete disregard for the windy a@# conditions, paddling as best I could for shallow water on the beach. Subsequently half mi. from the flag pole pulling spinach off bait and lead. Duane had never had any intention given the weather to do anything else but drift the flag pole area. Six drifts, one faltty. For myself, not so much.
