I've been talking to Alani Tani about improving Abu Garcia reels. Out of the blue he calls me to make sure everything is going fine! Unbelievable, I've never given the guy a penny and his "customer service" is better than any company I've ever dealt with. At any rate I was curious about changing the gear ratios in Ambassadeurs and I came across these two sites. Apparently there is alot you can do to these little reels. I haven't heard back from Alan yet but I told him I would much rather give him my business than some online company. I'm not sure if he sells this type of stuff. I also asked him if the Smoothie drags were similar to his drag upgrades and apparently they are not the same thing. Alan's the man!

And you could hear me screaming a mile away as I was headed out for the door....

Alan T. also does reel repair seminars at Fisherman's Warehouse every now and then....I'm sure he'll post his next class on this site. This guy really knows his stuff  :smt002 and more importantly = he simply enjoys it  :smt002

If Alan can make my Abus to run better than new, just think of what  could he do to an Abu that was loved!  Alan kicks butt.

I love my Abus but I would not even consider using them unless Alan has gotten a hold of them first. You won't find a nicer guy in the reel repair biz, or  fishing in general.

What's the best way to get a hold of Alan. I tried to send him a PM but he hasn't responded.
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

A PM here will get to him, he is sometimes slow to respond if he is super busy. Someone might have his number handy I don't.
