I passed through Capitola this evening and notice that it was blowing hard.  The next thing I saw was a deep purple blotch of bait off the Capitola Pier and a funnel cloud of sea gulls. (not sheerwaters)   Last time I saw this pattern was when the Bonito was slamming groups of large Maks about 9 years ago.

I checked the water and noticed that it is very clear.   Back then, The El Nino brought in the clear blue waters,  balls of 12" Maks, Barricuda and the Bonito.

If I'm right, a medium spinning reel with a chrome spoon working the edges of the bait will bring hours of intense Bonito fishing. (and a burned out reel)

When I get a day off, I'll check further.  Capitola out.... :smt005
