Got in the water before 4:30 am at La Jolla Shores. Headed north to make bait at the pier (greenbacks), an old friend used dog food as chum. 5am, continued north to fish the edge of the LJ canyon with flylined greenbacks. At Blacks, big yellow can chase bait up the canyon, sometimes all the way to the beach. The water was clear and 75, overcast - it was so nice out there I took a nap with my clicker on. Snodgrass and I set up drift between the edge of the north fork of the canyon and the mushroom house (which can move up and down the cliff on a track). There were a few schools of spanish and green macks in the area, but no obvious takers. By 6 the crowd was out and the turkeys were lurking, pecking around as if the fish were hiding under my boat. Yellow shined the party. My clicker went off and I thought I was going to be the one to score ... but only a leopard shark. Stuck it out 'till about 130 pm with no luck.
