I am always impressed by the creativity of yak fisherman who stay up late in the garage cooking up concoctions to "pimp" their yak.  What are some of the more bizarre contraptions you've seen?

You need a "none of the above" category. Due to the ingenuity you referenced, if all of those items were discontinued we would still figure something out for rod holders, leashes, hatches, and sealant. The Inuit had none of those things and were great kayak fishermen.

Yeah, I agree with FJ - we'll still be kayakfishing w/o any or all of the items on your poll.

I wouldn't be out there as much if I didn't have a camera...

Pool noodles = inflatable bags.  PVC pipe = nothing needed.  Bungee cord = line with hook attachments.  Tupperware = ziploc bags.  Silicone caulk = other adhesives available.  Milk crates = nothing needed, have small icechest that doubles when needed.

While it wouldn't end our yakfishing days, I think loss of the material known as plastic (in all forms) would have a significant effect. We'd all be back to tarred cotton & canvas, wool, and oilskins. Or we'd be all move to the tropics :smt005.

Curse you petroleum by-products for being so useful!

That break down. Mine did last week and I kept thinking. If I was in my yak this wouldn't happen. Oh and add to the list any PB launch ramp. It makes you wanna scream at how oblivious people are to others.

I think beer plays a pretty good part in the contraptions people come up with.  :beer1
