Well first time at paradise and I hooked up with Troy (Gotbaitgofish) headed out to about 25ft of water and the pole goes bendo, I thought I had a nice size halibut and was using really light gear, but after the first run I know it wasn’t a butt and didn’t seem like a ray either. After about 25 minutes along comes about a 50” sturgeon. (damn, I know I should of stopped and got report card) anyways what a blast and released for another day. This was only my third time fishing from a kayak and I’m way hooked now. Beautiful thing about a yak is, it is very hard to get spooled. :smt001 Hooked a ray later and a couple of small sharks, No butts but a great time.

Congrat for the Sturgeon hooked-up!  Don't you love the sleigh ride with a Dino pulling it?  :smt003  Glad you had a great time there.  Thanks for the report Mark.

Yeah that ramp makes me tense up cause I don't wanna break a hip. I'm going to use that rusty old handrail from now on.

I was eyeballing that, but didn't bring a lead line to hook to the yak. I will next time.

Markbc it was nice to meet you guys today on the water I was the guy in the white and teal PB, sorry you guys did not get a halibut today but sounds like you had a good time anyway. All we got was two halibut one 21" the outher was 29.5" once the tide turned all we got was a couple of bites that was it, we tryed angle inland but got Bowen off the water, untill next time :smt006.

Mark, do you mind telling what bait/setup you were using?

Hey Pat R,

It is always always nice having someone giving you live bait while fishing, thanks again. Nice meeting you as well.

I was using a sliding sinker with a double hook setup, I had large herring tray bait. drifting and a little paddle, not really trolling.
