Hello,

I've paddled out from Fort Ross Cove south to the Reef a few times.

Is there a place closer to the Reef to launch?

Looked around the campground once but it looked pretty rough.

Hey,
I did the same thing looking for a new launch, and came to the same conclusion. The South cove looks like a good hump with your yak on your shoulder or banging rocks on the way up and down, not worth it for me till I build my pocket rocket assault yak, that I can throw around on my shoulder.
My goal is a sub 40# plywood composit stitch and glue epoxy.
Good luck

Hello R Wally,

Is that south cove in the campground?

Last month I got a used Yak Board. I could probably hump that a ways.

Are there any plans for that sub40 kayak?

I'm building a Tolman WideBody using epoxy stitch and glue methods in the back yard.

Went to Fort Ross today.

No wind but there was some slight swell.  Paddled south toward the reef.  Saw two fellows in a tandem fishing the kelp about a third of the way to the reef.  They got 12 fish between them, all small.  Said they had a lot of short strikers. They launched from a beach just adjacent to where they were fishing.  Said it was easier that walking from the parking lot to Fort Ross Cove twice.

I got 5 small fish in the kelp, china cod and something they called "gophers".  Lots of short strikes.  Seals all over the rocks at the reef.

hey kirill, yeah i saw those guys in the tandem a few weeks ago, i dont know about it being easier where they launch, it seems to be a pretty big and rocky cliff. they also were surfing that little shore break after they were done fishing, cameron
