Has anybody ever used an Okuma Cedros spinning reel? I'm gathering the parts to build a 20 lb class spinning rod for fast casting jigs. I have the blank and I want  to buy the reel so I can match everything else to it. I'm leaning toward the Okuma Cedros but I don't know much about it beyond the write up on Charkbait. The other reel I am considering, which I know is a good reel, is the Quantum Cabo PT. But, that reel is $90 more expensive.

Any thoughts?

I can't tell you anything about the Cedros, but i can tell you that my Quantum PT has been a real POS.

I haven't heard many good things about Okuma reels and the Catalina I bought 5 yrs ago was a dog.
I have a Daiwa Emblem 4500 that's a good reel but I'm waiting for Sept. when the Saltist spinners come out before I get something new.

Wow, I haven't heard that before. What was wrong with your PT?

Also, can anybody recommend a high speed retrieve, 20lb class, saltwater spinning reel other than the ones I am looking at?
No, I can't afford an Accurate or Van Staal! $600 - $1000 for a spinning reel is well outside of my price range! ;)

Well there's always a Stella SW.....

I'd give a look at that Daiwa Emblem Pro. Holds about 180 yds of 20# mono, great drag, fast retrieve, good to excellent surf reel. If you shop around online you can find them for anywhere from $130-145.

If that doesn't interest you, I have the next step down, the Emcast Plus 4500 that you could probably talk me out of for a decent price.

My buddy just got the stella SW and really likes it. I myself have the stradic ( 3 years now) and a sustain (2 years)and really like them both. I also fish with a diawa team advantage, but can't say i like it. After one year of use the bail now has to be closed by hand, it won't close when you start reeling. I guess i could get if fixed, but would rather spent the money on another sustain. My buddys diawa also took a crap after one year.

It has had an assortment of issues from multiple dead bearings to a sticky drag to a sticky bail...not happy with it.
