Went camping at Letts Lake in Mendicino National Forest.  I went expecting to catch trout, considering it's what the lake is know for.  After setting everything up i got on the water and let out my line to start trolling, instantly i had a hit.  Reel it up, little 6'' bass.
Same thing happened over and over again... I talked to a forest service Ranger who said that the Lake basically is screwed up.  The enviormentalists said that planting trout was killing the lake, so fish and game had to stop planting while the issue was sorted out.  for five years it wasn't planted, and the fish that remained were mostly all caught (relatively small lake).  Some how without the trout the lake got extremely messed up and now the bass population over populated, so the lake is full of 9'' and below.  The only fish caught are either really small or this year a 6 and 8 pounder were caught.  Fish and game is planning on going in and and removing alot of the bass population and beginnig tuesday  planting trout agian.  So hopefully it can become a great fishing lake again.(my dog loved it, fish or no fish)

Thaks,

Mike
