I did not get to fish yesterday, but instead watched a wild crowd of seacliff cement ship/pier locals score big. I was down for a walk on the beach thursday night when I heard yelling and guys whooping it up, looked over to see no less than 6 rods bent over and fish-on. I rubbed my eyes to be sure I was not dreaming walked onto the pier to see it littered with massive stripers. I got caught up in the excitement and frenzy, high-fiving guys and wondering if I had enough time to run home and grab my rod. I ended up staying until dark and witnessed a guy fight and land a hog measuring in at 32 3/4" @ 26#, now that was a nice fish and the largest caught there. All were using live sardines and spanish mackeral, sabikied up and which are plentiful right now. The were using a 3-way swivel with a 2-3oz. weight with a leader and live bait hook. Pretty cool to see and went back this afternoon to try my luck, only one caught off the pier today. I did talk to a guy that had another hog, maybe even bigger than described above who caught it off the beach this afternoon on a nice shiny spoon, a real beauty of a fish to be sure. I wish I didn't have to work this weekend, good luck all. Mike

It always goes that way; right place no gear or wrong place and all your gear! Just seeing it had to be awesome though.

Kirk phoned me yesterday( he was off for a change, so I can share this info) and said there were fishermen every 10 yards down Pacifica beach. More than he had ever seen, and due to his job he sees a lot! lots of fish caught. He said "today is my day", and low and behold i got another call from him later. He landed his first beach srtiper of the year. i believe it was at san G on a small hairraiser..........
