Day 1: We fished Bean Friday 7/10.Weather was not so great. Lots of wind, big rollers, generally sloppy conditions. Off the water by 11am.
Total score for me was 1 nice black RF, 1 big brown RF,and one beautiful halibut that...well, lets just say the fish looked to be about 15#, was vertical in the water and as I was about to reach for the gaff it performed the classic houdini halibut trick-gill flare/head shake combined with an ab crunch. I had to watch the swimbait fall out of its mouth. The fish waited a second or two before settling white side down and gliding off into the depths in 55FOW. Jim scored some nice cabezon, and at least two very nice copper RF, one of which will be featured on our dinner menu this evening.
Day 2: We fished Santa Cruz & ran into Brendan C on the beach with his friend, and then ran into Johnny from Ft Bragg while we were fishing. Very cool guys all.
Weather wasn't too much better than the previous day, wind kicked on at 9:30. I got 2 underlings and one just legal ling, all fish released today.
Just finished our traditional burrito feast from La Cabana on the westside, now off to take a tour on the Oneill sailcat. Gotta go, I have beers to drink! :smt003

Glad you catch some fish in the windy condition.  Thanks for the report and enjoy your beers  :smt003

What a heartbreaker with the Halibut. That is the worst feeling when they sit there for a second looking up at you then give you the bird and slowly sink back out.

Good job on the rockfishes though!
