Looking at the "Party Kayak" thread got me to thinking.  ("Danger...Danger")
Anyone know of, or have experience with a decent simple little marine boombox CD player?

Speakers, not headphones.  Not to annoy other boaters or the fish, but when my buddy and I are upriver in good weather some Mario Lanza or Beethovens' Ninth might be very nice.   -Matt

Please do the rest of the folks on the water a favor, and use an iPod. Waterproof Pelican cases are quite inexpensive.

Regards,
Scott

Scott,

I wouldn't be playing it loud and never when other boaters are around.   I'm not that kind of guy.  But when my friend and I are alone upriver it might be nice.  That's why speakers, not headphones.   -Matt

Pelican boxes are cheap....flush mount one of these puppies in it with a battery inside.  Mount two 9" speakers in the tankwell, you'll be stylin.
..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

Hi Matt:

I like "The Ride Of The Valkyries"  by Wagner before I go out. The smell of Smoked Fish in Morning remindes me of Victory.

                                                                 Tune in,
                                                                  Drop out!

Wagner's' Valkyries is in my top ten classic song list.

I have a long list of music for the rivers.   I know that it's not politically right to play music among such beautiful silent scenery along a quiet river but sometimes it just asks for it and it asks for sharing some music.

Beethoven's' Ode To Joy for example.   Many of the songs I like are rather obscure, and I'm a little picky about music.   Whenever in doubt I can always sing harmonies to The Star Spangled Banner.  Or Paul Simon etc..

I brought this thread up as I can't imagine a water-tolerant guitar.

I'm a music junkie and have had the EGO ICE Ipod Speaker for a couple of years now and love it...the sound quality is great, it floats, and is 100% waterproof (made by OtterBox)...

http://www.otterbox.com/ipod-cases/ego-ice-waterproof-ipod-sound-case/

You can also find it online from Target for under $100...

I have a Fishin' Playlist that I set on shuffle which keeps me happy and grooving all day long... :smt004

If you see me OTW and my tunes are bugging you, paddle over and let me know and I will be more than happy to turn it down/off... :smt001

Sincerely,

Jim

The fishing was so good I thought I was there yesterday!

I use a little $10 pair of MP3 player speakers stuffed in a dry bag. Works perfect. Or you can always get a cell phone that plays MP3s. I have the Sony Ericsson Walkman phone w/a 2gig card. That works fine in a pinch and I keep it in my wader pocket.

I don't play either much when OTW with others....mostly 'cause I hate taking it out of the bag and turning it down when people are trying to talk to me, but it RULES when I'm fishing Lake Mendo by myself on Summer evenings.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...
