Went with my son; last minute thing so we left the yak and threw from shore. We caught a TON of nothing! We went up a Montara and didn't get bit there either. While at Linda mar we was about 5/6 kayakers so the big question is. where is there report? I will say that I was regretting not packing up the yak when we saw how flat it was out there today.

You had an awesome trip the other day, congrats!! I went by HMB on the way home and checked the launch ramp (and the cleaning station). There were lots of long fins and I saw 1 Long end of a thresher tail. Hoping to hitch a ride for some albi's this week!

Slow Day:

Met up with Freddie, Mooch, Alien, Mendohead and Kingfisher.

Got three Mackerel at once and had a big take down on the first two.  One cut the 30 lb mono and Freddie said it was probably a shark.  The second one was shredded but didn't stick anything.  The third got a ling that was too close for me to keep cuz I didn't have a rule with me.  After that I even had a hard time making more bait.  Freddie said he caught a big shark that he tried to haul in for a picture but let it go after it almost pulled him in.  Water was pretty calm, easy launch and landing but the wind came up after noon.

Sounds like a carbon copy of July 4th at LM.

I picked up 3 macks immediately coming past the breakers, and had a nice take down on the first one about 30 minutes later. It bit soft and I eased it line for as long as I could stand, and enjoyed to runs and the beginning notes of a sleigh ride before it let go. The head of the mack came up chewed off just below the gil covers, so I guess I must not have been patient enough...  :smt010

There was also about a 7ft shark brought to the boat (I'm sorry, I haven't gotten all the names to all the handles yet, so I can't say who caught it), and Kingfisher thought from the description it was probably a soupfin.

That was it for me for the day besides a couple of small black RF I got on my sabiki while trying to make more bait.

This was my first time fishing for stripers on live bait, and I was there the day "everyone" got theirs. I had my chance, but blew it on a couple of nice bites. Didn't find the right touch I guess, but hungrier than ever to get back out there and catch something.  :smt003 :smt003

I trolled all over the cove hoping for a striper or a WSB to bite....instead, I caught a couple of these (caught and released)

That was Freddie's shark.  He said it was about 7 ft. and was bronze, like a soup fin.

Mooch really did paddle around.  Every time I tried to spot him he was paddling circles around me in the distance.  Wonder how many miles he tallied yesterday.

Colm was kind enough to huk-me-up with a green back after I lost all hope on trolling....so I slow trolled and drifted and still got no love. I was fishing on top of some boiling bait but still no sign of da big fish :smt013 I tried casting out a hair raiser every now and then but no luck either. But I did manage to get a brief huk-up when when Fred lost a fish (unidentified) and I immediately cast my hairraiser right next to him and got the hit....it pulled my line for a few seconds and it was gone - lost my lucky lure to an unknown  :smt011

I also managed to snag a sardine with the Hairaiser before I lost it....

no keepers today, only underlings and sharks biting through leaders.

I hooked into three assumed sharks, line screaming out, then snap.  Steel Leader I would have brought a couple in.
