I have a great Live Well that was made by NCKA's own Ariel Sea.  I used it a couple of times on my old tandem Hobie and it worked out great.  Now I have a Revo and the additional weight and sloshing on the back of the yak is something I don't want to deal with.  I was tossed by a wake at Paradise on Monday and although I managed to recover with the only loss being my bilge pump, I have decided to part with the live well.  Getting the yak righted was pretty tough and consequently, it took on quite a bit of water.  I was able to carefully peddle to shore and drain the water but I think it would have been much easier without the well on the back.  It's powered by a 6 volt gel cell and has a Rule pump that trails behind.  I have used it all day with the pump running nearly all of the time, which isn't necessary, and the battery has lasted all day.  It can be set at either a deep level for live well use or shallower for live bait.  It's similar to the one Hobie makes, but a little larger.  I believe the well itself was intended for use as a pet food bin.  It fits easily in the rear well of of the Revo and would probably fit most yaks.  It has four nylon straps for securing.  I think I paid Ariel around $100 for it which was probably a little less than the cost of the components.  He did a really nice job building it.  All connections are sealed and it doesn't look homemade at all!  I'm open to any reasonable offer.  I think it has been used about 4 times.  It's too heavy to ship but it could be picked up in Danville or a meeting "half way" could be arranged.

Hi Martin,
Sorry to hear you got wet. Glad to hear you came out ok. Could you have a picture of the well? I was going to build one, but if it looks close to what I need, I might just buy it. Also, could you please post the dimensions?

Thanks,
ernest

Ernest,
The dimensions are 12" wide X 14" deep X 17" high at the tallest point.  I also have a charger that goes with it.  Here are some pics.

Great deal on the live well. With all the components in there it probably is a lot closer to $200 worth of parts.

Ariel's live well has found a new home.  Sold, but kept in the NCKA family.

Martin sorry to here that you dumped it at Paradise. Was the top off the tank when you dumped it?

I remember purposely dumping it with the water at the bait tank level and it was quite easy for me to flip it back over. It didn't fill up that quick and the top was sealed.

Sorry it didn't work out for you.

Hi Ariel,
The top was off.  I don't think it really would have made much of a difference either way.  I was looking at a picture of my Revo in the water and the back was sitting really low with the well and all of the other gear.  It would probably work out fine, but after getting tossed and having some difficulty getting the yak turned over, which resulted in a lot of water in the hull when I was righted.  I'm just gonna take the easy way out and not carry so much in the rear well.  It was a really nice live well and, from what I have heard, much better made than the Hobie ones.  The good news is; it's going to a "good home" and staying in the NCKA family.  I'm sure we will see it being put to good use.  Maybe we can get Ernest to be the bait carrier next time we fish with him.  I'm ready to try some Rock Fishing, but I'm waiting for a hook up with somebody with experience to lead he way.  Let me know if you're going to any place that's a good "rookie" launch on a Monday or a Friday.  I recently took on a volunteer activity that's going to limit my fishing days for the next twelve months.

The bait tank worked well. Netted a couple dozen herrings and the tank kept them all alive. There was a small leak from the big drain cap. Should have tested it before putting a full tank in my van. I think I can fix it, though. Ariel did a great job. Thanks for the great deal Martin!

I have a similar tank but I don't strap it to the boat.  If I do capsize the bait tank will be floating nearby.  Foam and air in the battery box keeps it afloat.
