Went out of Santa Cruz Harbor today with 2Karats and Casey7.  I was quite surprised for I expected Flat Seas, Warm Weather and Little to no Wind.  Not quite, Stiff Breeze, Cooler Weather and 4-5 Ft Swells.  As well, the fishing was slow at best but that doesn't leave me without a story.

Got Bait at Bocci's (by the way, the Sardines are so big that you would not be embarrassed showing a stringer of these pretending to be Trout / oh well!, bigger bait means bigger fish).  Then headed out knowing this was my day for my first Halibut.  Well, almost.  I did get a 25" Ling but the thrill was 2Karat (Paul Diamond) getting his first boated Halibut.  It went approximately 8 1/2 Lbs.  I really think I enjoyed Paul instead of me getting his first Halibut for he was as excited as a fisherman can be.  He took care of the landing, boating and transporting of the "Beast" all by himself not accepting offers of help from Casey7 and myself.  If this is the "Upside" of being a Guide, I would consider it for one of my best days was seeing someone finally do what he has been trying to do for 3 years.  Congratulations Paul.

Congrats to you both!

Where did you fish, if you don't mind sharing? I'm hoping to head out to SC tomorrow am. Cheers!
