This past Father's Day weekend was huge for paddle sports.  There were kayak demos/festivals in Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, Nevada City, and Arnold.  I worked two events on for Hobie -- Lake Tahoe on Saturday and Nevada City on Sunday.

The Tahoe City Paddlefest was eye opener for me.  I didn't realize how big Stand Up Paddleboarding has grown in the past year.  The event started out with a big SUP race.

The SUP race was sponsored by new company called TahoeSUP.  I got to know two of the guys with the company -- Nate and Ernie.  These guys saw my Hobie Livewell and went nuts.  Nate borrowed and mounted it to his board and couldn't stop talking about it.  It was a perfect fit, minus the scupper holes needed to run the bait tank.  I almost didn't get my livewell back.  He even offered to buy it from me.  It looks like TahoeSUP will be build their own custom SUP fishing pods in the near future.

Here are three of the models that I got to demo.

All were awesome, but my favorite was their "Cadillac"model -- The Woody.

Very Cool Chuck,  Was at Linda Mar Monday, waves were big and lots of sups out also.  I watched the race in Nevada City sunday on the Internet, Armstrong keeps getting stronger, had a feeling he was going to win, look out TDF.  2nd place winner is a great rider also, seen him win the downyville classic about 7 years ago.

Sonny... I wish, but it would probably take 10 Livewells to make that trade.  The Woody runs about $2500.

Yup... I can see it popular with flyfishermen for sure.

Hey JD.  You've been riding much?  A lot of guys rushed from the kayak festival to see Armstrong in town.  I missed it.  Downieville's downhill run is a must do for anyone into mountain biking.

Wow, that SUP costs more than my Hobie Sport.  No way I'm going to give up my Hobie for that  :smt009
