Divers and search and rescue teams have been scouring a remote area of Northern California for a 50-year-old San Jose man who disappeared after his boat capsized on Hell Hole Reservoir east of Auburn on Thursday night.
Peter Flores was last seen at 9 p.m. Thursday. Flores' son and a friend stayed in the boat after it capsized, but Flores tried to swim for the shore, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Department.
It is not clear whether Flores was wearing a flotation device.
Dive team members searched the frigid waters for Flores on Friday while other search and rescue teams searched the rugged shoreline. It was unknown whether the search for Flores had resumed today.
The man's family was camping at Hell Hole, a reservoir operated by the Placer County Water Agency, located about 65 miles east of Auburn, Placer County Sheriff's Department Dena Erwin said.

AUBURN (AP) — Authorities plan to resume searching at sunrise for a San Jose man whose boat capsized in Hell Hole Reservoir.

A spokeswoman for the Placer County sheriff's department says the search for 50-year-old Peter Flores was called off at 8 p.m. Friday after authorities spent much of the day looking for him.

Flores' boat capsized Thursday night with his son and a friend on board in the frigid waters of Hell Hole Reservoir near Lake Tahoe. Flores went missing after swimming for the shore.

His son and the friend remained with the boat until it got close to land and then swam to safety.

Friday's search effort included divers, a helicopter and rescue teams on foot along the shoreline.

This brings up something i would like done when it is my time.

If i go my wife is instructed to cremate me and contact my fishing buddies and they can take me out and dupm my ashes in the big blue. Ya, ya i know it's probably not legal to do but that's what we're doing.

If however i'm diagnosed with a terminal illness and am capable, i want to get on my kayak and point west and keep going till i can't go any more and become a meal for the landlord.

What a way to go.

I did state that when it is my time, so yes, I fully expect to go. I meant if I go before my wife which brings up the age old question....

Why do men die before their wives?... Because they can...
