You may have seen my post last week concerning my new Prowler 13 Angler from REI.
Took that one on it's maiden voyage and noticed a few gallons of water in the hull.

I returned it to REI and ordered a replacement Prowler 13, picked it up today.

The odd thing about this boat is it's missing the serial number stamps on the hull.
The sales person and I both went over every inch and couldn't find a s/n.
I brought it home and searched again. The usual s/n locations are smooth as new. No signs of alterations.
The registration cards have a s/n sticker in place.

Doesn't seem legal to sell a water craft without a s/n for liability reasons and I have no number in case it's stolen.

I'm not comfortable about this. Has anyone else seen this before?
What do our resident Ocean Kayak reps think about it?

Al

That's weird Al.
The P15 we just got from Sierra Trading Post is a 'factory 2nd' althought I see no probs with it.
Took it out the other evening to Folsom to check it out and everything is AOK.
One thing I commented on was how incredibly pronounced the serial number was on the kayak; stamped on both sides of the stern. It doesn't seem to be hand engraved like all my other kayaks.

I noticed the same thing on the first one I received.
