I've been surfing almost every day at Virgin Creek, which is right in front of fort bragg, so i've been able to monitor the plankton conditions for a while.

The Viz is now on the good side here, about 15ft or better.  Ocean temp is now at a relatively tropical 56, and of course it's still flat.  So game on!

Watch out for the long period south swell hitting the coast.  It's not big, but at 16 seconds it can pack a wallop if you get pinched on the rocks.  Sometimes a 10 minute interval between sets.  The surf has been epic for longboarding.  Glass and classic sunsets.

Salty.

Thanks for the surf/vis report. Was actually thinking about hitting up the surf down here today myself. Sounds clean out there. How packed was Virgin Creek? I've only surfed there once. jim

I guess it's relative, but no more than 15 folks at a time.  Yesterday afternoon I surfed the south peak with about 5 others. Plenty of waves.  And the Mendo crowd is notably smiley....hmm i wonder why that is.

Hey Merv,  I'll be here.  Look me up.

My younger son got his first ab yesterday at Caspar.  Pretty fun to watch him work at the thing, which was fully latched down.  Hard life for mollusks.

I can't wait for that.   :smt007

Man, the water along the usually muddy Lost Coast yesterday was looking sweet.  A few feet of vis in areas where there's usually nada...
