Russian Gulch 6/11 The one that GOT AWAY!!!

OTW by 8:30 got there late after shopping for weights!!! Not much of a selection in Ft Bragg!  Was planning on diving north by the caves but waves were not cooperating, so started fishing out by some kelp pattys... Big Bendo...Huge fish, thinking Big Ling, break out my new ghetto gaff...probably 10lb cap...shove into my ab tube,  let out a huge WoooHooooooo and about 5 min. transferred it to my stringer, which is ghetto also...And the FISH SWAM away:smt010 cussed myself for a min then thought just act like u were going to release it anyway no pics though... After catching 10 fish between us...I got a nice china cod, and a gopher, buddy caught a grip of clone gophers bout 2 lbs each

Than went diving, I was diving in 15 ft range, got 2 8's, my dive partner got 2 9's in 20-25ft...he's a freaking seal...

No problem with our friendly furbags...told my buddy to keep an eye out for some large aggressive sea lions that were messing with Cameron the day before...
Not as fishy as I had hopes for, but got some abs and some descent fish to fry up!!!
Was checked on by a friendly DFG warden in the parking lot...told him my buddy saw him glassing us from the top of another cove, he said he was up from SF area and wasn't as stealthy as the local wardens...told him was glad to see him out and about...

Yeah sorta sucks... but a little at a time...got my VHF, next FF. than camera...

A picture says  a thousand words... I sure wish I would've got a pic of the cap...it was HUUUUUUUUUUggggeeeeee but I blooded my new gaff...

sledge, i usually make it from the house to russian gulch in hour and forty minutes

Damn that's hauling ass...takes that long from upper lake...you have a straiter shot 128...Hwy 20 is a curvy rd and riding shotgun, unless I've had a dose of motion pills makes me want to hurl...thx

actually i drive the speed limit, and 128 is pretty straight foward, as long as there are no sunday drivers that refuse to use turnouts when they have multiple cars behind them. but thats always on the way home so im in no hurry. but the winery guys in the early a.m. can really haul ass out there.

After looking @ the AOTY report I damn sure need a camera, because the cab that got away was bigger than the biggest one.......dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmnnnnnnnn but it's all good, I'm not signed up for AOTY...and believe me I like to show my pics... I remember last yr in OC wasn't signed up yet and talking with some fellow NCKA Bros  who were saying "Damn Dude, you need to sign up for NCKA you can win some prizes"...!!! I had a meager 24" ver on my stringer, and had earlier hooked a 36" ling....I know the importance of a camera, but the VHF and up NEXT FF takes the line up...and if you had my wallet you wouldn't be talking smack....so lets just  and for get we had this conversation!!! Love ya man!!! We will see you in Albion and we will have to put a little side bet on the line...say BIGGEST Fish...u stepped on my "something hood" and I have to defend myself...u game???
