We put in at our place south of Pescadero and north of Bean around 8:45.  Swell was minimal, with the occasional waist high set.  Water was choppy in the morning, but the wind died down and it got glassy.  Except for the constant boat wake, that is.  At one point I felt like I was in the Pacific fleet.

We were fishing in 30-50 feet of water, using both speed jigs and scampi.  Fish were hitting the jigs early - even the cabezon - but around noon would only hit on rootbeer scampi's.

I caught three lings (released one), four cabezon (released three), and several rockfish (released all but one).  My fishing partner caught quite a few big cabs (released all but one).

The most interesting catch of the day was the guy in the private boat who was fishing live bait and caught a cormorant.  He didn't handle it that well, and quickly motored back to HMB in shame.

I'll be going next Saturday if weather permits, but I'd be really keen on trying Franklin if I can convince anyone to do it...

Yeah, even down at Bean the PB's were all over. I counted 12 at a glance once. Openers are always busy. Hopefully the PB traffic will slow as gas prices rise this summer.

Franklin Point, I presume.  I have lots of memories of Good Times at Franklin.  Ab diving there in the early 90's I saw and tried to pole-spear one of the biggest lings I've ever seen under the water.  We got some great abs there too.  Cool stretch of coastline.   :smt001

Thanks for reporting, mcag.  I'm Eric.   :smt006

Thanks Eric - I'm Mike, btw.

Franklin is Franklin Point.  I used to shore fish from there with my kids before they shut it down.  One of the few places where I could catch big ling cod from the shore.  My regular fishing partners will go out at Pigeon, but aren't keen on Franklin...yet.
