Since Bill needed  pics of the Brisbane Tubes for Jason's upcoming article on fishing the stripers in that specific area...I thought I'd launch from Oyster Point and paddle to the Tubes - take some pics and paddle back....I'll be trolling to and from - company welcome.

report from USA fishing....

Quote
On Sunday 9-25 bait Shop Mike at Oyster Point Marina in South San Francisco reports stripers were being caught off the Birdcage near the Channel Marker with about 10 millions sharks in the area. Straight out from the pier is The Swirl, a hot spot where only three boats can anchor over the spot. Five boats were out there, crowding the hole, because stripers have been landed there on live shiners or anchovies. You can jig up anchovies out there. The thresher shark that was reported on Friday was taken from this spot. The pier has been bringing in sharks, rays and jack smelt. Mike says it looks like “Lake Berryessa” out there today – just like a mirror
Scott at Western Boat Shop in San Rafael reports lots of school sized stripers, scattered throughout the bay. There is no size to the fish but they are being landed on bait and lures in a variety of areas. The experienced fisherman are having 20/30 fish days. Eric on the Bass Tub brought in limits of stripers on Saturday.
Keith Fraser of Loch Lomond Bait and Tackle was gone most of the day. When I called today, he was standing next to the Morningstar, which had a very slow day, landing 4 halibut. Keith says a big school of stripers were in Lower San Pablo Bay yesterday but Captain Gordie couldn't find the school today as they moved. Stripers will do that to you. Keith says it was gorgeous weather today.
He predicts excellent tides next week for drifting, trolling or fishing on the anchor.
Captain Jim Smith of the Happy Hooker started off inside the bay but did not find a concentration of legal size bass. After landing 3 bass and a 20 pound leopard shark, they went outside the gate to the Marin Coast and Seal Rocks for rockfish limits and 6 lings to 20 pounds. Please see the Golden Gate page for more potluck scores.

Bait Shop Mike at Oyster Point Marina in South San Francisco reports one of his regulars was out in front of the shop in a small aluminum boat and hooked a 30 pound thresher shark on a 6 weight fly rod on Friday 9-23. After a two mile tour of the South bay, the shark came to the net. Yesterday, Mike himself got two stripers out in front of the shop. Another angler had a halibut and two stripers this morning drifting live bait before "the hurricane hit." Mike says it is "blowing like hell" out here right now with whitecaps all over the South bay.

I agree but Uncle Bill needs the Brisbane Tube photos....and he actually threatened me to take the photos or else he'd kick me out of "moderator" status  :smt003

It's actually a closer drive for me - and I'll need to ease up on the gas mileage cause I'll be heading to Monterey on Sunday to hook up with Allen Bushnell on a guided trip - looking forward to that cause I have never fished that area before  :smt026

Just have to clear it with the wife this evening.

What time were you going to launch?  Low tide is at dawn, so I don't see a whole lot of merit in getting out while it's still grey.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.
