I'll be bringing the family over to stay with some friends this weekend, and my brownie points are still intact since I wasn't able to make GMSIII.  I plan to fish Fri/Sat/Sun mornings in Trinidad.  I've heard the halibut are making a showing in Humboldt Bay too, so that's tempting.  If anyone can make it out, let me know.

Also, have you guys left any crabs out there?  :smt001

Thanx,
-beenfishin

I've been keeping my eyes on those conditions and have my fingers crossed...it's looking too good!

With the 2 1/2 year old and 5 month old, we're going to pass on camping this year and stay with some friends in McKinleyville.  The wind/rainstorm at Big Lagoon kicked our asses last year.  That's pretty much the only reason I'll be able to get out everyday, it makes it much easier on the wife/kids.  It'd be great if you guys could make it, but if not we'll hook up again in a month or so.

Hopefully the UPS guy shows up before we leave on Thursday so I'll have my new camera to play around with...full report w/ pics will follow!

tight lines,

Hey Ben, good luck out there. I remember fishing at Trinidad with you last year, you were catching lots of large blacks. I'll look forward to your report...

Domenic and I played around diving and briefly fishing in the Harbor this morning before work.  The ocean's nice.  We saw another yakker with some fish - maybe it was Timojam?...

Should be good.   :smt001

Yup, it was me.  Had a quality limit in 90 min.  Find rocks and you'll fine fish--45ft.  I used a small swim bait that looked like a 3" minnow--killed them.  Even better I used a trout rod.  Had my first taste of abalone from a friend--love that flesh.

Saturday's going to be NICE - you guys should try near shore about 2-3 miles north of the Head if you venture that far.

Good luck - I'm hoping to hookup with you Sunday morning.
