well, while you all were chasing linesides up in mendo, i chased them down here in quentin.  I don't say this much, but it was WFO from about 7 till 9am.  Just me for a while on the edge of the channel off the light tower in quentin, then a whaler and I just nailed them.  So thick I thought it was bait on the finder.  Nearly all the fish were caught casting- for nearly two hours it was every cast.
Slowed down about 9 and stayed just acceptable action until I was off the water at 1.
Bigger grade of fish now it seems, lots in the 15" range, but also managed one at 32" and a few in the low 20 inches.
Hit the rod and gun club pilings on the way  back in, was thick in there as well.
of course all fish (except one) on blue/white x-rap.

gonna launch again on monday at 7 from the bayfront launch.

I just got back from mendo. Caught zero fish, best fishing seemed to be from shore for catfish. Go figure! Good food though, and company to boot.
Anyhows, where is bayfront launch? Thinking of trying it...
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

here's a map:

take the last (or first) marin exit just before the Richmond/SR bridge- then left, and left again.  Make the first right after the rod & gun club, into what looks like an office park (you'll see the bayfront sign).
all the way at the back of the parking lot (towards the rod & gun club) is the launch.  good for all but a minus tide.

the pilings at the outer edge of the pier have two holes- one S and one N, both usually hold fish on the incoming tide.  just under the SR bridge, there's another good hole on either side- on incoming tide, fish will be facing south- fish it just like you would a big river.
Along under the prison is a rock wall, where the stairs come down is another funny little place that seems to hold fish.  the point holds them, and so does the edge of that funny little cove near the guardtower

Hey Steve. I saw you out there as I was coming across the Richmond Bridge. I launched at the brickyard with my Dad and fished over to the Marin Islands and back. Caught nothing!!! Location location location. Next time...
