Congrats!  You'll love diving.
What dive shop? Did you do your check outs at Monterey?

I started diving back in the mid '70s along the north coast. I've done the Naui and Padi OW. Also the PADI AOW and Nitrox. Looking into doing the Rescue Diver next.

Still have my first steel tank and back pack without any buoyancy control. My daughter uses that tank now, but we don't use the old pack.

Looks like you are in the Sacto area. Lets do a crawdad dive at Negro bar.
It's an easy shallow dive with tons of crawdads for the picking.

The dive under the Folsom bridge is interesting too. People throw all kinds of things off the bridge. you never know what you'll find.

I've never dove Tahoe. Would like to some day.
I have fished there for crawdads with my kids. We caught a bunch of big ones. Much bigger than the ones at Negro Bar, cleaner and better tasting too.

Congrats on your cert, srm.  I've been certified since the 80's myself, but I scuba infrequently.  Like Al, I still have my old backpack and BC bib, even after getting new gear.  I would also be interested in a freshwater dive, since I've never done one.

cheers,
Henry

If any of you are interested in combining scuba and kayaking in the Monterey area, I can't wait to put the two together.  Will finish my Advanced course this weekend and my instructor promises to show me the kayak diving techniques soon, says it's very simple with just a few safety rules to follow.

It sure would be nice to have all that air and energy for diving instead of swimming out and back.  Think about it...
