I fished from the yak Saturday morning at the mouth AR/Sac for a couple hours before the wakeboarding boats and people came out of the woodwork (9:45-10:00am)  :smt011. Anyways the first 20 minutes or so being out there I got slammed several times line spooled and set the hook... nada.  :smt012  A couple of hours go by and zero action I decide to call it quits and head home to get the small boat and go play in the Rapids.

As Saturday rolls to an end a couple buddies and I get the idea to take the bass boat out to do a little midnight attack, needless to say we ended up slaying them!  It was non stop action from 10:00pm-3:30am. You can't beat sacramento weather.. flip flops, shorts and t-shirt at 3:00am. I'm head back out with the yak Friday morning if anyone wants to go.

Here's a picture I took Saturday morning of the boats down river from me, with several more upriver. All together there was probably about 30 boats total.

Stripers- Shad there both here! This week the upper part of the American should also see decent numbers of shad. Last week the shad were up around Gristmill.

Ya midnight oil...I haven't stayed up that late in years. The cool things was we ended up seeing the entire firework show from Raley Field right as we were passing under the Tower Bridge. I definitely felt it Sunday, I was dragging all day.

Be careful around Gristmill!
The tweaks hide in the bushes and wait for you to leave. Too many car break-ins there, and the whiny beachcops can never catch them BUT they can catch my dogs off leash EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY GO IN THE WATER. GO FIGURE THAT OUT!!!

I just never let my vehicle out of my sight there.

Great report, where are the night time pics?  Also, thanks for the heads up on the nightime parking lot goblins.  Good thing the war on drugs has been looking for pot crops in Mendo all this time while the tweakers pollute the planet, and strip anything of value from anything within arms length!

The river was busy Saturday morning. I started my bike ride at Garcia bend and noticed a lot of trailers in the parking lot. Saw 5 or 6 boats lined up around the bend. Rode up to Disco from Scott's in Greenhaven. Lots of boats lined up between Miller park and Disco. Looked like many of them were shad fishing.

You picked a nice night to be on the river.  Thanks for the report.
