Fished the May tourney with Bass Classics (in glitter rockets).  My goal was to break the 20-lb barrier for a limit.  MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!  And if not for a couple of unlucky breaks, I could have done it both days and taken the win...

Day 1:  Spent most of the day down south on steeper rocky banks.  My partner was throwing a darthead worm.  I wanted bubba bass, so I started chucking a soft swimbait (on a lead head with a little belly spinner).  Picked up my 1st swimbait fish – about a 4 lber.  A few casts later, FISH ON!  This one was off-the-board (>22") so I brought it to the scales – 7.13 #’s.  Ended up taking big fish money for the tourney.  Caught one more on the swimbait, had one flippin into weeds, and lost 2.  One of those would’ve been another off-the-board fish (would’ve given me the win), but I hooked it on a Chatterbait at the end of a long cast.  Had too much line out to get a good hookset, so when it jumped it just spit the hook.  Lost another 3-4 lb fish with 5 minutes to go when it wrapped me around some weeds.  Only weighed in 4 fish for 17 #’s plus some change.

Day 2:  Since the areas we were fishing had a lot of weeds I concentrated more on throwing a blade instead of swimbait or chatterbait.  Good choice, as 3 of my best fish came on the blade this day (including another off-the-board fish).  Also lost another good fish on the blade.  Finished off my limit by finding some bed fish (3 lbers) and ended up with just over 20 lbs for the day.  Total for 2 days = 38+ lbs for 9 fish, good for 4th place.  My partner dartheaded all his fish and ended up in 2nd with 43 #’s.  We missed heavy boat by <0.2 lbs…

Fun weekend in the sun!

Thanks for the CL update...I'm heading up there in early June.  I can always use good intel for this lake which is still a bit new to me.

Thanks,

HB
