Lost my snorkel on Friday  :smt013 hooked on kelp and pulled it out of my mouth and off my mask strap while I was ascending and then broke a fin strap on Saturday. :smt075 The fins were some old cheap ones I found surfing at Ft Ross years ago so would rather get some better fins than buy new straps. Looking at getting the ScubaPro Jet fins and I wear a size 9 bootie. Do I need L or Xl size fins? Old snorkel was aqualung impulse 3 solid tube no flex section. Liked it alot but am open to trying something better? Also want a new mask. My current mask works O.K. until I pull it up on the water to blow the snot out of my nose. Then most of the time it doesn't want to re-seal good to my face until I mess with it alot. Mask suggestions? Is the Cressi Minima any good? On a positive note the zip ties for putting the tags on the abs worked good for temporary fin straps. Good to see you James/Abman. :smt006

I have a Parkway mask, which was about $40 7 yrs ago.
A generic snorkel, no purge valve, works fine.
You probably wear M or L fins.

May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

I used the scuba Pro jet fins for years about 20 they work fine and had a lot of power.  I thought they were the best fins on the market a lot of people use and swear by them.  The buckles would occasionaly get caught on kelp but that was not much of a problem. just dive where there is less kelp. I liked the fins a lot.  I read a lot about the long freedive fins and how much power they had and thought I would give a pair a try.  I bought a set of Picasso Black Team full foot pocket fins.  I was amazed at how much of a diffrence they made.  With the full foot pocket they do not get tangled in the kelp at all.  you can dive in thick kelp and never have a fin get caught.  It only takes about 3 kick cycles to hit 20 feet.  On the way back up it is the same three kicks and you are on the surface.  It was the one purchase that changed the way I dive. They take so much less effort to use than the Jet fins.
