Planning to hit Silver Lake tomorrow... I'll be dragging a big ass Rapapla from a yellow P-15... lake has just iced out so the browns and macs should be ravenous.

Good luck.  Please post a report- I'll be up that way the 15th of the month scouting out some fishing spots.  My bro-in-law has a place on Shake Ridge Road.

Well, turns out that Silver Lake was only about 2% iced out.... crap!  So drove back down the hill to Bear River Reservoir.

My first backup plan was Salt Springs Reservoir, but the upper road was still closed due to snow.  That was a bummer because at Hams Station that evening I ran into a fisherman that SLAYED 'em at Salt Springs... he drove in via the Panther Creek (low) road... no snow, but a longer drive... this guy had a couple nice browns (26-28 inches and fat) that he caught trolling a panther martin.

Fishing was a bust for me at Bear River... first off, I donated a FRS/GMRS radio to the lake (sank like the proverbial rock).  I also didn't get on the water until the crack-of-10am, and the topwater bite was off by then... several trollers had near limits of browns & bows trolling jointed rapalas... I trolled a 7 inch rapala all over the lake for 4 hours for nada (I did catch a healthy beer buzz though).

Very nice weather... low 60s' and slight mid-day breeze... cold ass lake water (glad I wore splash pants).

I may try to hit Salt Springs for an overnigher sometime in the next few weeks... paddle back to the inlet and camp near blue hole... some monster trout back in there!
