I'd rather use an inline weight.
Z ever tried one of these http://www.sinker-dropper.com/store/products.php

I never have but I find that there's a happy balance between an inline weight and the downrigger. When one doesn't work the other one does.

Great pics buddy!  Just missing the most important one of all!  The look on my face when I dropped that koke!  That would have been priceless.  Anyhow, I figured since hoochies cost almost 3 bucks a piece, and I am a creative fly tier, I hit the vice today, and made up a bunch, here is a sample.  I tied them on a #8 streamer hook, with a #16 treble stinger.  I think the treble stinger will help with the short strikes I was getting on the single trailer hook hoochies.  Let me know if you guys want some, I sell my flies at cost, or at least your gps location of your honey hole!  I think the marabou will add a lot of action to the bug behind the dodger, and should work great.  I want to go back and try them out very soon.

You might want to try some UV Flash on those flies. UV Flash products have always outfished statndard gear for kokes when I used to troll for them from boat.

MIght be hard to see, with white background, but there is UV flashabou in them.  I made some with just that and a couple strands of marabou also.

I'd take a few with the UV  flashabou in them. :smt007   Is it possible to get them without the red line?  What am I looking at paying for say 4 flies.  Sadly I don't have any honey-holes, let alone GPS coordinates. :smt009

I can make them any way you like them.  I just put the leader on and used the cajun red.  I can use mono too.  Say, a buck a piece?  if that sounds fair let me know, that will include shipping.  Not trying to get rich off anyone, just funding a hobbie.  I tooled Jeff up with clouser minnows the other night when he stayed at my house.  Send me a pm if you want to order some, turn around time is pretty quick.  Also with treble stinger or single stinger hook, let me know.

Nice hook ups, guys!!! :smt023
& nice to see the cove got some water back!  I used to use the parking lot but got the gate now, so can't use late evening anymore.  And the cove was completely dry last year that you have to walk another 100 yrds +, so I stopped going there, but it's very good area to fish for smallies.   I might give it try again sometime...

AWESOME Post guys!!! :smt109  Excellent pics and info here! I just love it when a mission plan pans out!

So, deep-six the deep-six and go with a downrigger?  I've had issues using the divers too, but figured I just haven't been using it right.  I should start thinking about getting a downrigger sometime soon!

I've got a short kayakfishing downrigger article on NWKA if you're interested.
